Yes? No?! Maybe?!?
As Dollhouse winds down, talk of Joss Whedon's next project seems to be settling on series of motion-comic webisodes based on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 series of comics. I have been following this comic series, though delayed as I insist on reading the collections in graphic novel form, and I really do enjoy the series. I usually finish a book in two or three days and I am always left wanting more. While some of the stories don't have the impact I'd like, the overarching arch is fairly classic Buffy-verse material that successfully captures the characters we've grown to love and hate from the TV series.
The real question, though, is whether I'd even be interested in seeing this comic series turned into a series of webisodes. I think that gets a big "Eh." I'd watch it, of course, probably even eagerly, but I'm not convinced I really need this series. The comics are quite satisfying and I'm not sure a web series would bring anything new that would make it superior to the comics.
Of course, we have no idea what will happen with this project or whether it's even real. I think for now I'll just forget all about this and be happily surprised if it ever does end up being "broadcast" on the web.

Lights out in the Dollhouse...

It looks like Fox is pulling the plug on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse and I can't say this is a surprise to anyone. They should be filling out the rest of the 13 episode season (schedule in the io9 article), which should hopefully give Joss a chance to wrap things up in some semblance of an ending. Yay.
Why am I not excited or sad? Because The Sarah Conner Chronicles really was the better show and we all could tell that Dollhouse wasn't going to make it. Just seems like a bit of a waste.

Look who's joining the Dollhouse cast

It looks like Dollhouse is becoming a who's-who of BSG and Whedonites. So Dollhouse already features Eliza Dushku and Felicia Day from Buffy, Amy Acker from Angel, Alan Tudyk from Firefly, and Tahmoh Penikett from BSG. Now they'll be adding Summer Glau from Firefly, Michael Hogan (Saul Tigh) from BSG, and Alexis Denisof from Buffy and Angel.
This certainly isn't a bad thing, it's just constantly funny to me how actors turn up together in the same shows all time.

This American Life

This was a live presentation of the NPR radio show that usually broadcasts on Saturdays that was beamed by satellite to movie theaters all around the country. I have never seen any of the episodes of the show that broadcasts on Showtime (because I don't have Showtime), but I do love the radio show, so I thought this might be fun. I guess the initial big hurdle to get over is that the tickets were $20 a piece. Walking out, though, I definitely felt like it was worth it.Waiting for the broadcast to start, they were running these odd little anagram puzzles and hangman puzzles. That was different and fun. The show itself was really quite wonderful. I've never seen Ira Glass do his thing before, so he's doing his intro story and running the quotes and music cues himself on two separate machines. It actually reminded me of running lighting and audio boards back when I did theatre, but obviously he is a professional. There were both funny and touching stories from Mike Birbiglia, Starlee Kine, and Dan Savage. There was a little clip from the final episode of season 2 of the Showtime program. There was a peculiar little cartoon by Chris Ware. And, finally, it featured musical guest Joss Whedon. I was expecting an interview out of Joss, but no, he actually got on the piano and did a little number. Good stuff! They also played some clips from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, which was great to see on the big screen.
For those who missed it the first time and want to see it, there's an encore showing on May 7th. It also sounds like they'll air a trimmed down and "edited for radio" version on May 2nd as one of their regular Saturday shows.
A new Buffy movie? Is this even possible?

I saw on io9 that Sarah Michelle Gellar is ready to do a new Buffy project.
Of course, Joss would have to be attached to it for me to even consider it a true Buffy project, but were that to happen, then hells yeah!
/me is not getting his hopes up.
